2018 'Battlefield' game may feature World War 2

This year's entry for the "Battlefield" game franchise is one that many gamers are anticipating. While there is no doubt there will be a new game for it, the question remains on what theme it will have or on what the game will be mainly about. According to recent rumors, it looks like 2018's "Battlefield" may just be about the World War 2.

It was quite easy for fans on the game's Reddit to think that the game would be World War 2-themed. "Battlefield 1" was about World War 1 after all so giving the game a sequel parallel to history makes a lot of sense. Also found on the Reddit page is an apparent leak, a screenshot from the dev build of the new game, which is allegedly called "Battlefield V."

For those who do not know, the "Battlefield" game series does not really follow the proper numbers similar to the Xbox console series. "Battlefield 4" actually came before "Battlefield 1." Interestingly, the last time the "Battlefield" franchise did a game on the World War 2, it was for "Battlefield 1943."

The news of a 2018 "Battlefield" game was first announced by publisher Electronic Arts (EA) back in January. While it definitely gave some confirmation for the hype that was building then — since fans were originally quite unsure of the existence of a new game — not much else was said about it afterward. Fans are left to theorize on what the new game would be.

"Battlefield 1" proved to be a huge success for EA when it was first released back in 2016. And it makes even more sense for the video game company to follow the title with another one. On December 2017, EA revealed that the game is still definitely alive with more than 25 million players.

The screenshot for the alleged "Battlefield V" seems convincing to many. However, fans will still have to wait for any official confirmation from either DICE or EA.
