'Amazing Spider-Man 3' movie update: No fixed cast, release still set for 2018

Wild rumors surfaced about the third installment of "The Amazing Spider-Man" being brought forward to 2016, which instantly made Spidey fans excited. Previous reports also stated that Andrew Garfield, who starred in the previous movies, already signed on to reprise his role as Peter Parker. Moreover, a rumor spread like wildfire due to a published casting call for the extras to take part in the movie, which turned out to be a hoax.

According to Whatever A Spider Can's Daniel Wood, the casting call is false and is a scam. He explained that the source of the casting call is the Facebook Page called Bill Beckman Casting, which posts both legit and fake postings, including scammers' casting calls.

From the time reports were published, movie fans and commenters said that it was fake. Scammers request for payment to allow people to audition for a role. Under U.S. law, it is illegal to solicit fees for an opportunity to audition for a role.

According to people who inquired about the casting call, they were instructed to send money to a specific address. However, when the address was tracked down, the building is an empty space in New York City. The people who paid were no longer contacted. Also, there has been no update in the said Facebook page.

Moreover, no one involved in the film as well as in the industry said that Andrew Garfield is back on board. This is supported by the leaked emails between Garfield and Sony. It seems that the two parties are not in best terms and there are rumors that Sony will replace Garfield. Obviously, Sony was not happy with the reviews and the response that the second film received. Apparently, Garfield was blamed for the low ratings of the film.

In addition, the "Amazing Spider-Man 3" is still listed in 2018. More details will be announced as the preparation for the film progresses.
