Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 release rumors: Android One devices getting huge OS bump?

Many Android owners have been long waiting to get hold of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, as Google tries its best to distribute the latest Android operating system (OS) to all channels and mobile phone brands as fast as they can.

While everyone knows that Android 6.0 M does come with a lot of new features and fixes, companies like Samsung and Motorola have already joined Google in trying to disseminate the said OS to mobile devices, with priority on latest handsets.

But a report from reliable tipster @LlabTooFeR singles out that there are some Android One devices which are starting to get an Android update but in the form of an Android 6.0.1.

Among the devices getting the said update include local bred devices such as the Cherry Mobile G1 (which is available in the Philippines), as well as General Mobile 4G and I-Mobile IQ 2.

While the update seems lush, it is believed that the OS doesn't carry much of a difference when paired against the Android 6.0 M. But seeing that majority of phones are now getting the Android 5.1.1 instead, an Android 6.0.1 release for select devices on select market could prove to be better.

But for now, the important thing is for devices to get the Android push to the latest OS, regardless if it is version 6.0 or 6.0.1. All that may be academic considering there is already word that Android 6.1 Marshmallow could be hitting the scene as well in early 2016.

For now, it seems the celebrated Android 6.0.1 release was made only for the budgeted devices since there is no word about it coming out on the high-end devices.

The Cherry Mobile G1, for example, is something that one can get for an equivalent of about $133 (P6,000) in the Philippines, a budget-friendly phone made for basic use less the frills that folks would normally look for in the latest handsets available in the market these days.
