Apple iOS 10 release date rumors: Can Apple protect users' data with differential privacy feature?

After Tim Cook announced that Apple Inc. is gearing up for the release of iOS 10, Apple users started to be interested to learn more about the features of the upcoming mobile operating system.

The Apple CEO unveiled the next-generation iOS during the company's Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this month. It reportedly comes with several innovations as well as new enhancements that will improve the system's performance.

While the unveiling event highlighted the new features of the exclusive Siri voice-powered assistant that can now allow it to be accessed by third-party applications, new reports claim that the best feature of iOS 10 at the moment is its ability to allow Apple device owners to have more customizable user experience.

Recode explained that iOS 10 will have the capability of collecting a range of new information from the users' data to make the device and Siri learn more about what the owner wants. But since not all users are comfortable sharing vital information on mobile devices, the Cupertino-based tech giant will add a new concept called differential privacy so those who will download the new iOS can choose the data that they want to share.

The publication also explained what differential privacy is all about, saying that the data collection of iOS 10 has yet to start. It also said that cloud-stored photos or files will not be used to prompt the activation of the image recognition features of the new mobile operating system. Instead, this will be based on data configured to train its algorithms.

Aside from the improvements on Siri and the device's privacy, Apple users should also expect to see more features added to the iMassaging app, since the new iOS 10 is expected to allow third-party developers to submit their new inputs for the exclusive Apple app.

The upcoming iOS 10 is still in its beta stage but it is expected to be released sometime this fall.
