"Attack on Titan" (Shingeki no Kyojin) season 2 is set to start production when Volume 15 of the manga is released, according to reports.

Like every other anime reliant on its manga, a second season for the series will not commence until every detail is ironed out in the upcoming manga volume. Therefore, the second season is likely to be released as 2015 kicks in.

Nonetheless, "Attack on Titan" season 2 may not be long in coming since the manga is slated to be released in December. However, reports on which day it will fall still do not match. Crunchyroll reported that the manga will not be made public until Dec. 9, while KpopStarz stated that the release will be in Dec. 29.

But there are more things to come for "Attack on Titan" fans while waiting. While there is still absence of confirmed release dates for the new season, Anime News Network has already revealed that fans of "humanity's strongest soldier" can look forward to "Attack on Titan: No Regrets, Birth of Levi," a movie that will show how the protagonist got the noble title.

Kodansha Comics describes the upcoming movie, saying, "This prequel to megahit Attack on Titan answers the questions: How did Captain Levi of the Survey Corps go from street tough to humanity's strongest soldier? And how did Commander Erwin become a cold, calculating leader, ready to sacrifice anything to save the human race? The fires that forged this bond of loyalty and trust were intense indeed!"

According to Latin Times, fans will also see new faces in the movie, including Isabel, to be given life by "Hunter x Hunter" voice actress Mariya Ise, and Farlan, to be voiced by "Black Butler" voice actor Koji Yusa.

The movie which will be directed by Tetsuro Araki, is slated to be released on Dec. 29, coinciding with the launch of the manga series' Volume 15. Creator Hajime Isayama has long confirmed that Volumes 15 and 16 of the manga are underway and that they will be the "most impactul ones."
