BlackBerry Vienna specs news: 2nd BlackBerry Android phone a no-show at MWC 2016

A fair amount of expectation was on BlackBerry during the recently concluded Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Many were looking forward to the company's second Android phone called Vienna, which reportedly has a mid-range configuration. However, it failed to materialize.

The BlackBerry Vienna is rumored to be having a 5-inch screen that offers a 1080p resolution for its display, 3 GB of RAM and an 18MP main camera complete with an LED flash. It will be with a classic bar phone design, nothing fancy, and will have the ever-present physical keyboard, something that BlackBerry is known for, but not similar to the sliding one on the Priv.

A rendered image also surfaced along with the rumored specs, showing four different colors for its back side – in red (or orange), white, blue (or black) and green. It has some texture on it, not plain flat, for getting a good grip. Some even say that it's similar to the BlackBerry Leap.

A power button below it contains something like a protection flap, and probably contains the charging port and the memory card slot. The BlackBerry logo is also at the center of the back side, all in black.

The rendered image of the front contains, at the topmost, an earpiece (or speaker), front-facing camera and most probably the proximity sensor. Three buttons are on its right side, volume controls and a camera shutter, as reported by Crackberry back in November.

Other rumors going around the Internet says the BlackBerry Vienna is not as powerful as the Priv, with a Snapdragon 808 chip and a 16MP or maybe an 8MP main camera. An Android 5.1 Lollipop or Android 6.0 Marshmallow version may come along. One of the selling points of the BlackBerry Priv is its security suite and it may be included in the upcoming model.

The dimensions, specs and release date remain a mystery for the second Android phone of the Canadian phone manufacturer.
