Back in early September, Koji Igarashi announced that the release date for "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night" had to be delayed from March 2017 to early 2018. The producer and famous game designer has now given a proper explanation on why the game had to be delayed.

In an interview with IGN, Igarashi explained that there were several reasons why the game had to be pushed back. The first thing he stated was that the 2017 release date, which was announced back when he was asking for support on Kickstarter, was only a tentative date that could not be pushed back during the Kickstarter campaign.

He also stated the main reason for the delay was because he wanted to ensure that the game would meet the high-quality standards he had promised his supporters and fans of his previous games. Igarashi pointed out that he set the bar high when he released the demo and discovered how gamers responded positively to what they got.

"It was either drop the quality bar one notch in order to get it out sooner, or it was to be satisfied with the quality and continue to make sure it was going to be maintained throughout the project. At the end of the day, I want to go with the quality. This is important to me," he explained in the interview.

Fans have also been worried given that one of the developers for the game was Inti Creates, the same developers that worked on the poorly received "Mighty No. 9." Many fans are worried that "Bloodstained" may also suffer a similar fate.

Igarashi assured fans that the work Inti Creates has done for "Bloodstained" is high quality, but he also needed a new development team to work on the procedurally generated portions of the game, such as the backgrounds. This was an area that Inti Creates was not accustomed to working on, particularly with the Unreal engine.

On that end, he has brought in 505 Games to help finish the game.

"Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night" is scheduled to be released in 2018.
