"Boruto: Naruto the Movie" might not be the last installment in the franchise, after all.

According to Anime News Network, a recent interview with "Naruto" creator Masashi Kishimoto during this year's New York Comic-Con event revealed that the franchise is interested in continuing the saga of the Konoha ninjas. It was also hinted that the possible new entries would be new timeline stories outside of the main "Naruto" storyline.

"There are infinite possibilities right now. If I decide that I want to do more 'Naruto' stories, perhaps I will, perhaps I won't. That said, there is nothing firmly in the works at this time. Just that there is always the possibility..." Kishimoto said.

It has been speculated that there might be a spin-off to the "Boruto: Naruto the Movie." This time, the adaptation might be considered from Sasuke's point of view. It was shown in the movie that Sasuke is traveling frequently outside of Konoha, and the spin-off might tell of his adventures while protecting the village from foreign aggressors.

In the film, it was hinted that the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke had mellowed over the years. Both of them already have their own families, with Naruto having two children with Hinata, and Sasuke has his only daughter Sarada, with Sakura.

The movie also established a working relationship between Naruto as the Seventh Hokage, and Sasuke as a kind of personal troubleshooter for Konoha. While Shikamaru officially acted as Naruto's right-hand man, Sasuke took the more active role of protecting the village from the outside.

Meanwhile, Masashi Kishimoto is reportedly already hard at work for his next project. While details are still unclear, the project itself was already confirmed by Kishimoto in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. The new series might not be seen for some time though as the mangaka hopes to spend some quality time first for himself and his family.
