Losing their first seven games this 2015–16 regular season of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the Brooklyn Nets successfully scored their first win of the season against the Houston Rockets Wednesday, 106–98.

Guard Bojan Bogdanović had a suprising performance to lead Brooklyn in the win tallying 22 points, nine rebounds, and three assists off the bench.

Assisting Bogdanović was veteran forward Joe Johnson who had a double-double performance of 16 points and 10 assists with seven rebounds.

Another standout performance was from franchise center Brook Lopez who also had a double-double 14 points with 12 rebounds, also having one steal and five blocks.

"When you get a win, it validates all the preaching and all the working that you're doing," Nets head coach Lionel Hollins said, according to the Associated Press.

"When you do get a victory, you can say: 'Hey, this is what we're talking about.' Because in that victory, there's a lot of things that I've been preaching and other coaches have been preaching," Hollins added.

Meanwhile, Bogdanović said that the win over the Rockets was the first time they did not have "black holes" in their game, with Lopez echoing his thoughts.

The win gave the Nets a 1–7 record which placed them second to the last in the Eastern Conference standings, with the only team under them the Philadelphia 76ers who are still winless in eight games.

Following the win, the Nets' schedule will not be easier as they will continue on a four-game road trip.

Brooklyn will play the third game of the road trip taking on the Sacramento Kings today, Friday, then will have a tall task of facing defending against NBA champions the Golden State Warriors who are still undefeated at 10–0, a first in the franchise's history.

Following those games, the Nets will be back home at the Barclays Center to take on the Atlanta Hawks.
