It seemed liked wide receiver Terrelle Pryor found a new team with the Cleveland Browns after surviving roster cuts, but all that changed last Thursday when he was released following the claiming of running back Robert Turbin on waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.
Pryor was making progress transitioning to being wide receiver from playing quarterback but missed majority of the preseason with a hamstring injury.
The former Ohio State Buckeye only played in one half of the Browns' final preseason game.
In a tweet, Pryor had a message for the Browns following his release saying, "Had great time at Cleveland. Happy to get opportunity at Cleveland and good luck this weekend vs jets!"
Interestingly, the 26-year-old wide receiver reportedly told Northeast Ohio Media Group before leaving, "This will be a mistake by them."
When asked why Pryor was released, Browns head coach Mike Pettine said it was just a matter of timing.
"A lot of this league is about timing. ... Will Terrelle Pryor be successful in the NFL at wideout? There's a pretty good chance of that, but just given the timing for us, it just wasn't right," Pettine said, according to ESPN.
Pettine also said they held on to Pryor for some time because they believed in his potential but after what happened, it seemed like it was not enough.
But there is no stopping Pryor as NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk reported that he is scheduled to do workout for teams next week, according to a source, and will be doing wide receiver drills.
A former starting quarterback for the Oakland Raiders, Pryor said earlier in the offseason that he is doing well trying to become a wide receiver but said he is not there yet, also calling the transition a process.
Now, he is again looking to be a part of a team's main roster after being just a practice squad player for a number of teams in the past two years.
