'CS:GO' battle royale mode news: Modded map gives a similar experience

The battle royale shooter game genre has massively increased in popularity, which is most likely the doing of the top game "PUBG." Now, other shooter games are trying to adapt to this new trend, and "CS:GO" is no exception. One fan of the game modded a mode that gives a similar experience.

The mode is called "Go 4 The Kill" or "Go4TK" for short made by a modder who goes by the name "Kinsi." The map where the mode is set is actually four times bigger than the Overpass map of the main game. For a game that features small maps, it might be a strain on the game's source engine. In fact, according to Kotaku, it is actually three times bigger than what the source engine allows.

Kinsi was obviously able to work around this limitation. The huge map is actually made of four smaller maps separated by mountain ranges which acted as borders, allowing the source engine to easily handle the whole area. Players who cross the mountain ranges will then be in an entirely different map from the one they just came from.

While a normal "PUBG" game has a hundred players per match, a game in Go4TK can only reach up to 49. In fact, while it may be quite natural to compare it to a "PUBG" match, there are different mechanics. One of the major ones is its bit of added realism. Once players get shot, they will continue bleeding and lose health over time if they do not do anything about it.

According to Kinsi, the inspiration for this is not actually "PUBG," but from both "CS:GO" and "King of the Kill." This then explains the numerous differences from "PUBG."

"Go4TK" was actually released back in August, although, unfortunately, not a lot of players play it to keep the game mode up. They were down last November due to lack of interest but will soon be back up according to Kinsi.
