The Dallas Mavericks officially added veterans free agent center Samuel Dalembert and forward Charlie Villanueva to their roster after signing them this offseason.

According to reports, Dalembert and Villanueva were inked to one-year deals, although no information regarding the amount of the contracts were disclosed.

Dalembert worked out for the Mavs this offseason and did enough to get a deal for another stint with Dallas.

The Mavericks were in search of a new center early in the offseason after Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan backed out of his agreement to sign with the team in free agency.

Because of their campaign to sign Jordan, center Tyson Chandler inked with the Phoenix Suns and left Dallas without a prominent center until they traded for center ZaZa Pachulia from the Milwaukee Bucks.

Now, the Mavericks have added Dalembert who already played for them back in the 2013–14 season.

The 34-year-old player spent last season with the New York Knicks playing in 32 games, including 21 starts averaging 4.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game.

Dalembert's numbers may have decreased in the past few seasons; but he is still a legitimate defensive contributor. He remained consistent with his rebounding and blocking since entering the league in 2001 as the 26th overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers.

Meanwhile, Villanueva, who was re-signed by Dallas, proved to be a utility player last season.

The 30-year-old shooter played in 64 regular season games last season in his first year with the Mavericks, averaging 6.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Villanueva played in five postseason games in their playoff campaign and averaged 6.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per outing.

Before playing for the Mavericks, Villanueva had stops with the Toronto Raptors, Milwaukee Bucks, and the Detroit Pistons.

The Mavericks are trying to create a great supporting cast for franchise star forward Dirk Nowitzki and adding these veterans is a part of that move as they aim to reach farther in the playoffs next season.

It may be hard to fathom how such pettiness plays into the government’s wider crackdown on FoRB and other fundamental human rights, or how on earth it could justify extending its repression to children, but ultimately it all comes down to fear.
