'Elder Scrolls 6' update: Sadly, release is nowhere near happening

Bethesda is on the verge of revealing "Fallout 4," but it seems that gamers are looking beyond that debut. And as one would guess, gamers are eager to see if an "Elder Scrolls 6" would be following suit with "Fall Out 4" over and done with.

Sadly, it doesn't seem to be happening any time soon.

An interview by Dualshockers with Bethesda Vice President for Marketing Pete Hines at Gamescom reveals that nothing is in the works for another "Elder Scrolls" game. Simply put, Hines says such could be the case for a "very long time."

Although this could end up disappointing a lot of gamers, the thing is that "Elder Scrolls Online" seems to be suited for now. The goal for currently seems to be on expanding the online game through downloadable content (DLC) updates and such could be the main focus and a prime reason why an "Elder Scrolls Online 6" is not in the works.

It sort of makes sense, although there may be gamers out there who would prefer to play the game solo on their game consoles. If that is indeed the case, then perhaps it would be best for "Elder Scroll" gamers to content themselves with the latest version "Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim," which incidentally will be made backward compatible.

But of course, many will still hold out hope for a sixth installment and Bethesda still has that in mind. Although not a priority, such could happen towards the end of a development cycle, as bared by Todd Howard, game director for both "Fallout 3" and "Elder Scrolls 5."

So with that said, when could an "Elder Scrolls 6" possibly come out? A safe guess could be 2018 at the earliest, seeing how the online and DLCs are moving along. And so the long wait continues for "Elder Scrolls" fanatics.
