'Elder Scrolls 6' release date: Game to be Bethesda's biggest game in 2015, to be titled 'Redguard'

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Bethesda Softworks

The Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 came and went but there was no mention of the next "Elder Scrolls" game. Bethesda Softworks instead focused heavily on their announcement of "Fallout 4" which is rumored to be released by the fourth quarter of this year, as well their other big titles such as "Dishonored 2" and "Doom." However, there are speculations that "The Elder Scrolls 6" might be set for 2016.

According to a report from Master Herald, Bethesda is still working on the next "Elder Scrolls" game which is why it wasn't ready for an E3 presentation. The report also cites that Bethesda intentionally left it out of the E3 event in order to put the spotlight on "Fallout 4."

When the new games are released, particularly when "Fallout 4" rolls out, then Bethesda would shift their marketing toward "The Elder Scrolls 6." The report also says that if Bethesda's previous release schedule is any indication, then the next game may be made available by March 2016.

As for the game's title, rumors have been spreading that it will be called "The Elder Scrolls VI: Argonia" but there haven't been much evidence to support this claim. However, the report does cite that Bethesda has trademarked the name "Redguard," which hints that the new game could carry this title instead of "Argonia."

"Redguard" is the only registered trademark that Bethesda hasn't used in any of their games right now, which gives a big indication that this may be used for the next "Elder Scrolls" game, unless the company is working on a spin-off title of some sort, which is highly unlikely.

According to the report, Bethesda has kept the "Redguard" trademark since 2011, indicating that they've had intentions to use it for some time now. Keeping a trademarked title is not new to the company as Bethesda did the same thing while developing "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim."

Fans also speculate that the March 2016 release date is the most likely opportunity because by then, the company wouldn't have to focus on marketing "The Elder Scrolls Online" now that the MMO has already been launched on home consoles.
