Game of Thrones season 4 finale HBO

"Game of Thrones" fans may start counting the days for the return of the popular TV series as reports claimed that filming for the fifth season has begun to meet its April 2015 premiere date.

Although HBO has not announced any confirmed premiere date yet, it was speculated that the series will be back on air sometime in April next year.

The reports also said that the cast and crew of the series flew back to Spain to shoot the season 5 of "Games of Thrones". The filming started earlier this month in Sevilla, which allegedly is the set for Dorne.

"HBO is pleased to confirm that a portion of season five of GAME OF THRONES will be shot on several natural locations in the Province of Sevilla. Specifics on the locations will be announced closer to the time of production," a statement from the network reads.

Meanwhile, the network announced that the series is in need of extras and, surprisingly, the casting call drew more than 10,000 submissions in the first 24 hours upon announcement. Spanish production company Fresco Film Services said on its Facebook page that they will get back to the hopefuls soon.

"Game of Thrones" season 5 will be based on George's R.R. Martin's" A Song of Ice and Fire" series. Reports stated that the fifth season will concentrate on books "A Feast for Crows" and "A Dance with Dragons."

On the other hand, many are concerned with the author's pace in writing the sequel of his beloved series. However, HBO programming head Michael Lombardo that the series will not get past with George's writings. It was initially reported that the series will already touch the "Winds of Winter" storyline.

"We're not off on our own. George is an integral part of the creative team [and] every move is being choreographed very closely with him. We'll have to figure it out with George. We're in conversations with him," Lombardo said.

The HBO mini-series received 19 nominations for the 2014 Emmy Awards.
