Ahead of the game, Hope Solo has said she believes the German players will be tired following their epic battle with France just days ago in the last round.

Germany's quarter final with France went all the way to penalties before Germany claimed the won against the Number 3 ranked team.

Solo has said, "They're going to either hit us with a wake-up call that they needed or they're going to be tired. We're peaking at the right time."

Whoever wins today's game will be big favorites to win the tournament against the winners of Japan and England in the other semi final.

Solo has said, "Germany is a great team. They're tactically great. They're organized but we're right where we need to be and hopefully we're going to beat Germany and head into the final."

Germany's Annike Krahn said, "The crowd will definitely be against us and cheer on USA loudly. But that motivates us even more. The American playing style is completely different to that of the French. We all know that we have to be present from the first minute. With USA, a strong opponent awaits us. We've had some really tough games already - it also showed us that we can compete against strong sides. It's definitely a positive thing."

In the overall series record between these teams, the United States are ahead, winning 19 compared to Germany's 4, while there have been 7 draws. They have met three times in the Women's World Cup before, and on each occasion the team that won went on to win the competition.

USA defeated Germany in 1991 and 1999, where as Germany won in 2003 in the semi finals before going on to lift the trophy.

Today's game also pits against one another the team that has conceded the fewest goals - USA allowing just one goal in their five games so far - and the team that has scored the most goals - Germany have scored 20 in their five games.

Tonight's big Women's World Cup 2015 semi final between USA and Germany has a scheduled start time of 7 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on the Fox network or online through live stream by clicking here.

Suicide is a sin - why can't we say so?

It might just be me, but amongst all the myriad and somewhat valid objections raised, including by Christians, to "Assisted Dying" (read "Doctors Killing Patients" or "Doctors Helping Patients to Kill Themselves"), I haven't really seen the most important, indeed the all-decisive, one.
