Fans of the widely popular "God of War" franchise will most likely be disappointed that it will not be included this year's Playstation Experience 2016 (PSX 2016).

In a Twitter post, game director Cory Barlog confirmed that material for "God of War 4" won't be part of the line up of features in the event, which will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center from December 3-4, 2016.

To answer a fan's query, he said, "Sadly, I won't be showing anything of the game at PSX, just heading there to hang out with Playstation fans and play games." However, he said that while the material still won't be ready in time for the PSX, this does not mean that they're not cooking up something epic for loyal fans of the franchise.

"I promise we will be showing something really awesome when it is ready," he assured "God of War" fans in the same thread. He also said that his team is focusing on developing the game, as opposed to a movie so that the cinematic trailer will have to take the backseat for the meantime.

Fans have been waiting for four years for the sequel and have taken to the thread to share funny memes about how sad they were that their hopes of a PSX reveal have been dashed.

It can be recalled that during this year's E3 event, game developer SIE Santa Monica Studio presented the game as a surprise for unwitting gamers and fanboys, which further amped up their excitement for the sequel, Game and Guide reported.

Based on the reveal, the story will still focus on Kratos and is loosely based on his role in Norse mythology. "God of War" will not be an open world game, and will not feature a multiplayer mode.

The storyline will focus on the events after its predecessor "God of War 3," which was originally released in March 2010.
