'God of War' PS4 news: Game has no microtransactions

Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, Kratos must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats, and a second chance at being a father. Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest. YouTube/Playstation

The latest "God of War" game set to be released soon on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) has gotten many fans anticipating it more than ever. With the issue that started from loot boxes still looming over every gamer's mind, the game will apparently not feature any microtransactions. This even comes from the game director himself.

Cory Barlog, "God of War" game director, just had to reply to a tweet from a fan asking about the rumors of microtransactions. Barlog was on a trip to Europe to promote his upcoming game as he tweeted "In Berlin to talk some God of War!" A fan replied with the question of microtransactions in the game attaching photos of off-screenshots of the game.

Barlog straightforwardly replied, "No freaking way!!!" and since then, everyone has taken a sigh of relief. The screenshots were allegedly from the game's menu since Kratos' child can also be seen below the menu. On top of it seemed like a currency that may imply being bought with real money.

The photos surfaced just before Barlog shut the rumors down. According to the game's subreddit in which the photos were first shared, the screenshots were taken from a press event in Paris. The game was said to have a sort of preview for the game as it will officially be out on the 19th.

Now, whether those rumors are true or not is another story but at least fans can rest assured that there are not going to be any microtransactions for the game. That is, unless some unforeseen circumstances occur but that obviously seems farfetched.

With that out of the way, the next thing to come is the game's release itself. "God of War" is set to come out on April 20, 2018, which is just a month away.
