After Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson said he is the best player at the number two position in the National Basketball Association (NBA), reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) Stephen Curry claimed in an interview that he is the best in the world.

Speaking to TIME Magazine, Curry was asked if he is the best player in the world right now and he answered, "In my mind, yes. That's how I have confidence out there that I can play at a high level every night."

"I don't get into debates, arguing with people about why I am versus somebody else. I feel like anybody who's at the level I'm trying to be at, if you don't think that when you're on the floor, then you're doing yourself a disservice," Curry confidently added.

Curry is no doubt peaking and is one of the best players today, leading the Warriors to a 27–1 record to be on top of the Western Conference standings and the entire NBA.

Playing in all 28 regular season games for the Dubs so far, the 27-year-old franchise star is averaging career-bests 31.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.2 steals, along with 6.3 assists per game.

Curry's playing minutes also increased from 32.7 minutes in the 2014–15 season to 34.9 this season.

Because of his emergence and all the achievements, the former Davidson Wildcat has become a crowd favorite and was also asked about how he has a great connection with the fans.

"I don't know, I guess I play a very creative style of basketball. I have fun out there on the court, smiling, laughing, trying to have good demeanor," Curry stated.

He added that perhaps his size is one of the reasons, because of the things he can do despite not being like other players who are "physically dominating."
