The second preseason meeting between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers will happen today, Thursday, at the Honda Center.
In their first game played last Oct. 17 at the Valley View Casino Center, the Lakers ended on top 85–70 with the contest being stopped in the third quarter due to the court's bad condition which made a number of players slip.
Now the second preseason game between both teams will be held at a new venue located in Anaheim, California.
Along with their desire to avenge the loss to the Lakers, the Warriors also aim to close their preseason in a good note as they are coming off a tough 130–95 defeat suffered in the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers last Tuesday.
The Warriors did not have reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) Stephen Curry and Finals MVP Andre Iguodala in the loss to the Clippers, but that is not an excuse for the defending champions.
Leading the way in the blowout loss was one half of the Splash Brothers guard Klay Thompson who had 21 points, two rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
The game against the Lakers will be the last for the Dubs in the preseason as they get set for their season opener on Oct. 27 hosting the New Orleans Pelicans.
Meanwhile, the Lakers would also like to close their preseason with a win and do it against the champions to have a lot of momentum heading to the regular season.
After struggling early in the preseason, the Lakers have won two consecutive and in their last game edged the Portland Trail Blazers with a Ryan Kelly dunk to win 104–102.
Young guard Jordan Clarkson paced the Lakers in the win, tallying 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
The Lakers will be playing without franchise star Kobe Bryant who is reportedly being given rest to focus on the upcoming regular season.
Los Angeles will begin its campaign on Oct. 28 hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves.
