Professional racing driver and producer of the "Gran Turismo" video games, Kazunori Yamauchi, recently confirmed they are already at work on the next entry in the series.

Racing fans will be delighted by the news that the "Gran Turismo" team is already at work on the next title, and that the series will continue with its timely release of games to keep up with the evolving automobile industry and digital technology.

In an interview with Japanese media entity Game Watch about the recently released "Gran Turismo Sport," the producer also confirmed the development of the next title to follow in the series. When asked if there are any concrete plans for the next "Gran Turismo," Yamauchi answered, "I cannot talk about anything yet, but since the moment releasing 'GT', I have started making the next 'GT.'" Yamauchi continued the interview and entertained several technical questions about the current "Gran Turismo Sport."

This statement can be interpreted in two ways, whether it refers to the development of a follow-up title to "Gran Turismo Sport" already in the works, or if it refers to the team's timely releases of titles almost every other year. Whichever it is, fans can rest easy knowing that the "Gran Turismo" series is not going anywhere any time soon.

The latest installment to the series, "Gran Turismo Sport," was released on Oct. 17 last year and has been received quite well with mostly positive reviews. The developers, Polyphony Digital, are hard at work with continuous updates for the current game and have since released free content updates including new cars, courses, and leagues.

"Gran Turismo" has long been at the helm of PlayStation racing games and is almost a household name for racing fans. Following its landslide success with the first "Gran Turismo" on the PlayStation 1 in 1998, the series has had continued success throughout the years, with two or three titles released for every generation of gaming console from the PlayStation 1 to the current PlayStation 4.

No official title nor release date was announced for the next installment, although content updates are still constantly rolling out for the current "Gran Turismo Sport."
