'Halo 6' release date news: after arrival of 'Halo 5' expansion, 'Halo 6' still in planning stage

 343 Industries

With the release of the newest expansion of "Halo 5", "Warzone Firefight," a lot of fans are speculating on when "Halo 6" will be released. Some say that the game will be released soon, but developers refute the rumors by saying that they're still unsure about the next "Halo" game's content.

According to Yibada, the development director for this franchise, Frank O'Connor, said that there are still no definite features for the next game to offer just yet. Also, he added that they're still in the planning and writing stage right now, so it's possible that the game might not see its release within this year.

Regardless of this, a lot of online speculations are saying that the next "Halo" game will be released both as an Xbox One and Windows 10 game. Some even believe that the game will be played using the much slimmer Xbox One 2017 model, dubbed the Xbox Scorpio. This means that the game will run on higher-performing hardware, with improved GPU, 4k resolution support and 6 teraflops computing speeds.

So with the release of "Halo 6" still unclear, the biggest happening in the franchise right now is "Halo 5: Warzone Firefight," which will be the seventh free expansion ever since the game was launched. This new expansion will be launched by the end of June 2016, and according to the developers' blog post, the people involved in this game's development are hard at work in finishing up and polishing the features of the upcoming expansion.

While a lot of fans are disappointed with the May expansion, "Hog Wild," due to the lack of new maps, "Warzone Firefight" won't make the same blunder. In the same blog post, 343 assured players that there will be "new places" to see as well as "new tools of destruction" for them to use. In any case, players can still look forward to this update while waiting for an official announcement for "Halo 6."
