"House of Cards" is set to return next year, and fans cannot wait to see what is in store for the characters in season 4 of the highly-popular political drama.

For one, it will have a new character to be played by Colm Feore. Deadline says he will be a high-profile character in the upcoming season, which should be an exciting development. Moreover, Entertainment Weekly singles out Neve Campbell as another addition to next season's casting.

Another report supports the idea that there will be a power couple appearing in the next season, which would make all the right ingredients for an explosive season 4. A rumor is circulating that Campbell will be filling one of the two roles reserved for the new couple that will be a direct competition to the Underwoods. A key clue, however, is that both Campbell and Feore will have regular status for season 4.

Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright will continue playing their roles as Frank and Claire Underwood. Viewers can expect more turmoil in the relationship of the two leads in the next season, which is expected to pick up from where the season 3 finale left off. Beau Willimon, the showrunner of "House of Cards," shared some insights to Hollywood Reporter about the complexity of Frank and Claire's partnership in the political drama, and why the story of the series is inclined toward this direction.

"A lot of the strength of the show is based on the strength of that marriage. But as soon as we began to explore that, we realized there was no turning back," Willimon revealed. "We also realized we'd laid the groundwork in the previous two seasons for this conflict between Francis and Claire, and the more we began exploring it, the more inevitable it became. And the more exciting it was for us to travel that emotional terrain."

This, in a way, sums up season 4 but with a new power couple getting into the picture, the dynamics of the show will radically change. The effects of these changes should make the season 4 of "House of Cards" a good ride from the first episode to the last.
