HP Envy series news: Laptops redesigned to be thinner and lighter, include Ultra HD display, Intel and AMD processors

HP Envy x360 HP

HP recently unveiled its Spectre model, which they claim is the lightest laptop in the world. However, the company has another new model, the HP Envy x360, and two redesigned laptops in the Envy series, the 15.6-inch variant and the 17.3-inch variant. The three HP Envy models offer lightweight and low-profile designs with their all-aluminum casing and edge-to-edge display screen.

The new 15.6-inch HP Envy x360 2-in-1 laptop offers Full HD (1920 x 1080) or Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) display resolutions, as well as an option for the processor. It offers an Intel Core sixth-generation, either an i5 or an i7 paired with an Intel Iris or an Intel HD 530 graphics, or a seventh-generation AMD FX 9800 Quad-core processor married to a Radeon R7 GPU.

Memory is upgradeable up to 16GB, while a single hard drive can accommodate up to 2TB or an option for one SSD and one HDD (up to 256GB PCIe SSD or 2TB HDD). In addition, it will also include two USB 3.0 ports, a single USB Type-C port, HDMI 1.4 and an SD Card reader.

The HP Envy 15.6 offers options of either a sixth-Gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, 16GB RAM, and either an HD 530 or Iris GPU.

The HP Envy 17.3-inch model comes with only a single-option processor, an Intel Core i7 with 16GB RAM. However, three video graphics are available: HD 530, Iris, or an NVIDIA GeForce 940MX.

Common options for the clamshell Envy laptops are the storage that comes as single (up to 1TB HDD or 512GB SSD) or dual (up to 256GB PCIe SSD and 1TB HDD). The Touchscreen is optional but it can come in either Full HD or Ultra HD. It also includes three USB 3.0 ports, one USB Type-C port, HDMI 1.4 and an SD Card reader.

The HP Envy x360 starts at US$679.99 while the HP Envy 17.3-inch starts at US$1,029.99. They will first be available online on Best Buy on May 29, followed by HP's own website by June 1.

The HP Envy 15.6-inch, meanwhile, starts at US$779.99 and will be available on HP.com on May 25.

All models will have them on Best Buy brick-and-mortar stores by June 12.
