Hamilton comes into the race having been strongly dominant throughout the weekend in Hungary so far, being fastest in all practice and qualifying sessions. His dominance was highlighted by his large 0.575 second lead over team mate and nearest rival Nico Rosberg during the qualifications.

Hamilton admitted that everything had been going perfectly so far this weekend, saying: "In terms of how the weekend's gone, I'm incredibly happy. So far it's been one of the best. I can't remember having the performance I've had this weekend on any weekend."

He added, "I really wanted to adjust myself to hit the target every time I go out and I did. On a day like this with that kind of gap on your team-mate, you definitely have a good feeling. Psychologically it is good for me."

However, despite being on pole for nine of the last 10 races, Hamilton only has a 17 point lead over Rosberg in the F1 drivers' championship at this point, so he can ill afford any slip ups in Hungary today.

Hamilton will surely be looking at this weekend as a great opportunity to extend his lead at the top of the championship table, but he knows he has to get off the grid fast, so that he doesn't lose first position from the start as he has in recent races in Austria and Britain.

He said, "It is a long run down to Turn One, which is always a nervous point. But hopefully, with the pace we have, we should be good. The race is incredibly tough - not only physically, but also technically for the car."

Hamilton added, "But I feel confident in my team and my car and I hope we can convert it tomorrow."

The race is expected to take place in dry, hot conditions, with the temperature scheduled to be about 28C.
