Lorde's cover of Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" for "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" has been so well-received, it has even been rehashed in the promotional trailers of Dracula Untold and Assassin's Creed Unity. It has even landed on the 27<sup>th spot of the US billboard, Hot Rocks Songs.
Thus, this New Zealand singer-songwriter, whose single "Royal" has won her the Best Pop Solo Performance award and the Song of the Year award at the 56<sup>th Annual Grammy Awards, naturally has yet to say goodbye to her involvements with the well-acclaimed movie franchise.
On her twitter account, Lorde finally announced the good news: "i am so pleased and proud to have been announced the sole curator of the soundtrack for MOCKINGJAY – PART 1"
Director Francis Lawrence explained the choice of Lorde's curatorship:
"I sat down with Lorde on the set of 'Mockingjay' this spring and I was immediately struck by how she so innately understood what we, as both fans and filmmakers, were trying to accomplish with the film. Her immense talent and keen understanding of 'Mockingjay's' characters and themes not only have enabled her to create a song of her own that completely captures the film's essence, but her insight and passion for our project make her the perfect creative force to assemble the other songs on our soundtrack. I can't wait to share what she's done with the fans -- it is truly remarkable."
The artist is reported to have already written the first single with producer Joel Little. As the curator, she will be in charge of selecting the artists who will render the rest of the songs in the album, which is bound to be released in the Spring of the Southern hemisphere. In a press release, Lorde says, "Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge but I jumped at the chance. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people."
Maybe, she's not out there to rule the world, but this Time's Most Influential Teenager is definitely poised to rule the cinemas again with her songs, and her only words of caution: "Be prepared."
