It seems that the new "Injustice 2" game's release date has been leaked as GameStop's marketing plans revealed that the upcoming fighting game will be launched within the first quarter of 2017. If this proves to be true, then the game is going to be in for some serious competition.

According to Game Rant, ever since the game was first announced earlier this year, NetherRealm Studios has been hard at work in promoting the game. The game developer has even gone as far as showing a 15 minute-long video featuring "Injustice 2" gameplay footage to tease fans who are eagerly awaiting the title's eventual release.

However, despite the fact that a lot of people are looking forward to test their mettle against their friends with the DC-based fighting game, "Injustice 2" still does not have a definite release date. All fans know is that "Injustice 2" will be released sometime next year. With this, eager fans still have no idea when they will be able to get their hands on the sequel to "Injustice: Gods Among Us."

As such, it is easy to see how fans have excitedly latched on to the piece of information they garnered from the games retailer GameStop, since rather than having a vague idea of when the game will be released, they are given a more definite timeframe to anticipate the game's release.

The company's latest earnings report has GameStop's 2017 plans for marketing. In the Q1 2017 section, "Injustice 2" is seen along with "Mass Effect: Andromeda" and "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."

Regardless of its release date, WCCF Tech reports that the "Injustice 2" game will have features not found in its predecessor, "Injustice: Gods Among Us." One such feature is the loot system, which adds more depth to the upcoming fighting game.

In any case, "Injustice 2" will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One next year, and fans will know more as soon as it launches.
