Apple put an emphasis on the healthcare features of the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus with the introduction of HealthKit in the smartphones. The company even added a new accessory – the award-winning Kinsa thermometer.

Some kids do not like their temperature to be taken or it is hard to take their temperature when they are sick. These troubles are solved by the Kinsa thermometer since it is designed for parents with children. The thermometer makes taking one's temperature a more informative and more entertaining experience.

"We are huge fans of Apple at Kinsa, and we are thrilled to be both on the shelves of Apple stores and at Apple.com. The Kinsa Smart Thermometer is as easy to use as plugging in a pair of headphones, and brings innovation to one of the world's most common medical devices. As Apple revolutionized music players and mobile devices, we hope to bring the same step-change to the thermometer," Kinsa's CEO Inder Singh said.

The Kinsa thermometer looks like a normal thermometer and can be used in the mouth, armpits, and in the rectum. The device is connected to an iPhone thru the headphone jack and the temperature is shown on the screen in less than 10 seconds. While waiting for the temperature to appear on the screen, fun animation videos are shown to calm and engage the kids in the process and it alerts the parents if the device is out of place.

The smart thermometer also comes with a free app with which users can create profiles of family members and keep a record of their temperatures, symptoms, medications, and diseases. These can be used as notes for the doctor. The app will be further improved and will allow users to form and join groups for bigger cliques.

The Kinsa thermometer costs $29.99 and is available in the Apple Store, Amazon and Kinsa's website. The thermometer also works with Android smartphones.
