'Jessica Jones' season 2 spoilers, plot news: Major characters return

Netflix and Marvel's web TV series "Jessica Jones" will return for a second season in March and it will a returning major character, in one form or the other.

Jessica Jones again finds herself dealing with her most hated enemy, and facing her own inner demons and emotions in the process. In August 2017, actor David Tennant was confirmed to have been cast for a return in season 2. Whether this spells his character Kilgrave's resurrection and revival, or Kilgrave's remnants still haunting and affecting Jones, remains to be seen. The former is far less likely, since his neck was clearly snapped in the first season.

There has been no information disclosed about the plot for season 2, although enthusiasts expect crossover series "The Defenders" will have a major role in introducing its plot. The crossover features Jones joined by a unison of Marvel characters such as Luke Cage, Daredevil, and the Iron Fist. All of these characters have their own TV shows, and a consistency of plots and timelines is required.

Season 2 will see the return of show regulars, including Krysten Ritter who plays Jones, Rachel Taylor as Patricia Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, and Leah Gibson as "Ingrid," who is also believed to be Typhoid Mary, a powerful psychic. J.R. Ramirez from DC's "Arrow" was also cast as a new superintendent in Jones' apartment building.

Filming for season 2 began in April 2017 with the working title "Violet" and features an all-female lineup of directors. Executive producer Melissa Rosenberg proposed to increase the number of female staff members, which Netflix was heavily supportive of.

"Jessica Jones" is a critically-acclaimed TV series that follows the tale of Marvel's former superhero as she comes to terms with the ownership of her powers and her role in society. The heroine has given up her superhero cape and has opened up her own detective agency. She is heavily doubtful of herself and of her responsibility to use her powers to help mankind. Jones can be seen as an aloof anti-hero of sorts, similar to but not as extreme as the famous "Deadpool."

"Jessica Jones" season 2 will be available for streaming globally on Netflix this March 8.
