The setbacks keep on stacking up for the Kansas City Chiefs this 2015 National Football League (NFL) regular season as wide receiver Jeremy Maclin had a concussion during Sunday's 16–10 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings. 

According to ESPN, Maclin was trying to catch a pass in the fourth quarter but Vikings cornerback Captain Munnerlyn was there to tackle him and his head hit an artificial turf which led to the injury. 

Maclin was checked on the field and had the strength to walk on his own before being assisted off the field, ESPN added in the report. 

Before leaving the game against Minnesota, the 27-year-old had three receptions for 48 yards. 

The Chiefs cannot afford to lose Maclin since he is their leading receiver for the season, having 39 receptions for 531 yards and one touchdown. 

But the injury might make the 19th overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft miss time since he will need to go through the league's concussion protocol program. 

Unfortunately for Kansas City, Maclin is not the only player who left Sunday's loss to the Vikings as defensive end Mike DeVito was also unable to finish the game because of the same injury. 

DeVito is in his third season with the Chiefs and has played in all six of their games so far this season having 11 tackles. 

Like Maclin, the 31-year-old defensive end might also be sidelined with the injury as he needs to undergo the NFL's concussion protocol program as well. 

In the 2014 season, the Chiefs finished with a 9–7 record which was not enough to secure a playoff berth. With their current form this season, it seems like they will again miss this year's playoffs. 

Kansas City opened its campaign with a victory over the Houston Texans but since then lost in its next five games, with the most recent to the Vikings last Sunday.
