The brand-new series "Knightfall" is looking to pick up the pace after the series opener premiered to mixed reactions from critics. In the series' upcoming second episode, protagonist Landry, played by Tom Cullen, will be teaming up with Parsifal, played by Bobby Schofield, in order to find a killer on the loose.

Although the synopsis for this week's episode does not reveal who the duo will be looking for, it is highly likely that they are hunting down the one who killed Parcifal's fiancée, Marie, played by Sai Bennett.

In the season premiere, fans saw Godfrey, played by Sam Hazeldine, embarking on a solo mission away from Paris. During his trip, he took on a bunch of murderous highwaymen, with the local Parsifal helping him in the fight. Godfrey ended up dying in the encounter, but as his final wish, he charged Parcifal to deliver his sword back to Landry.

Against the wishes of his fiancée Marie, Parsifal journeyed to Paris to bring Godfrey's sword to Landry. Landry ordered his men to procure the body of the fallen knight so he could be laid to rest in the temple. However, when Parsifal arrived home to get the knight's corpse, he found Marie's lifeless body outside his house.

Because of the help that Parsifal provided to Godfrey and the Templar Knights, it is only logical that Landry would return the favor and help Parsifal get justice for the murder of his fiancée.

The next episode will also show the unexpected visit of Pope Boniface, played by Jim Carter, in Paris. With the head of the Catholic Church venturing into the territories of his enemies, the intensity is set to reach an entirely new level as plans of his assassination are revealed.

The first season of "Knightfall" airs Wednesdays, 10 p.m. EST on the History channel.
