Los Angeles Lakers NBA 2015 news: Second preseason win captured in shortened game against Warriors

The Los Angeles Lakers have not really thrived in the 2015 preseason but had a huge win last Saturday beating the defending champions Golden State Warriors in a game stopped in the third quarter due to the court's condition.

Los Angeles hosted the Warriors at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California for its sixth preseason outing.

ESPN reported that with 2:16 remaining in the third quarter, the referees decided to finish the game.

Lakers head coach Byron Scott said the officials saw the "possibility of players getting hurt" and he spoke with Warriors interim head coach Luke Walton agreeing for the game to be called off, the report added.

The court had wet spots, with reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) Warriors guard Stephen Curry among the players who slipped during the game.

Once it was stopped, the Lakers were on top 85–70 and sealed only their second win of the preseason to improve their record at 2–4.

The Lakers started their preseason with three consecutive losses as they were beaten back-to-back by the Utah Jazz in Hawaii and then by the Toronto Raptors when they returned to the United States.

Los Angeles captured its first victory following their defeat to Toronto and had a dominant performance against Maccabi Haifa.

Before their victory over Golden State, the Lakers had another setback falling to the Sacramento Kings.

Budding point guard Jordan Clarkson again shone in the Lakers' victory over the Warriors, scoring 17 points and grabbing five boards.

Last year's seventh-overall pick forward Julius Randle contributed 14 points and three rebounds. Veteran forward Nick Young also joined the double-digit scoring club tallying 10 points, also having one assist, and one steal.

Key guards Kobe Bryant and Lou Williams sat out against the Warriors due to their respective injuries. Bryant did not play due to a leg contusion suffered in their loss to the Kings, while the reigning Sixth Man of the Year Williams has a groin injury.

Despite the two not playing, veteran Brazilian guard Marcelo Huertas, who was signed in the offseason but missed the first five games, made his debut for Los Angeles.  Huertas, who faced immigration and hamstring woes before debuting against the Warriors, recorded four points, one rebound, six assists, and one block in the game last Saturday.

The Lakers will have two more games against the Portland Trail Blazers and a rematch with the Warriors before ending their preseason.

Faith is often accompanied by uncertainty, yet it is in stepping forward that we encounter the power of God. The Israelites learned this at the Jordan River, where God performed a miracle only after they demonstrated obedience.
