HP just announced the new HP EliteBook Folio 1020 that will battle head on with the MacBook Air. HP claims that its device has better specs and features compared to Apple's offering. 

The HP EliteBook Folio 1020 is thinner than the MacBook Air and the former beats the latter as it packs the latest Intel Core M processor and graphics chipset. Moreover, the screen of HP's laptop is allegedly better than the MacBook Air. More importantly, HP devices are known to be cheaper than Apple's. 

Below is the comparison of the specifications of the two laptops. 

Screen Display 

One of the features of the new HP EliteBook Folio 1020 is its 12.5-inch screen display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. The Non-Touch version sports a quad HD resolution. Meanwhile, the MacBook Air comes with 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch screen variants with 1366 x 768 and 1440 x 900 pixel resolution, respectively. 

Processor 

HP's EliteBook has the latest Intel Core-M processor paired with Intel HD Graphics 5300 chip. The MacBook Air, on the other hand, is equipped with Intel Core i5 chipset with Intel HD Graphics 5000 GPU. 

Operating System 

Like other HP laptops, the device runs with the most recent version of Windows, which is currently Windows 8.1, while the MacBook Air runs with Mac OS X Yosemite. 

Memory and Storage 

The EliteBook has an 8 GB memory and up to 256 GB storage. Meanwhile, the MacBook Air comes with 4 GB memory that is configurable to 8 GB. The laptop also has up to 256 GB storage. 

Battery 

HP's EliteBook boasts up to 9 hours of battery life, which is a little short compared to the improved 12-hour battery juice of Apple's MacBook Air. 

Release Date and Pricing 

The MacBook Air is currently available in Apple stores and in various retailers and costs $999. The recently announced HP EliteBook Folio 1020 will be available next year in February. The device has no pricing yet.
