MacBook 2016 release date, specs rumors: New MacBook to be unveiled this month?

Apple customarily releases its MacBook lineups for the year on a staggered basis, throughout the whole 12-month period. For 2016, it is said that the releases will start with a new MacBook iteration at a March 21 event.

According to MacWorld, it has already been a year since Apple released a new MacBook, and the Cupertino-based company is reportedly refreshing its laptop lineup with a new iteration. While it has yet to be confirmed, a new 12-inch MacBook appearing at the March 21 event is plausible if Apple plans to start the ball rolling for its new MacBook lineup releases for 2016.

If the new 12-inch MacBook is unveiled this month, the next in line can be a 2016 iteration of the MacBook Pro, which may be unveiled during Apple's WWDC in the middle of the year.

The current 12-inch MacBook already boasts impressive specs, and for the new one, fans can expect some new design improvements as well as upgrades in the internals. It is speculated that the new MacBook and MacBook Pro lineups will have the newest Intel processors and feature 6th-gen chipsets with Skylake architecture.

The current-gen MacBook has a Retina Display, Force Touch trackpad, super-thin keyboard, and USB Type-C connectivity. These features are the selling points of the product and can be expected to also be featured in a MacBook follow-up.

Meanwhile, a 2016 MacBook Pro this early is also plausible. According to Know Your Mobile, Apple will release its new laptops on a staggered basis based on display dimensions. First on the list is the 12-inch MacBook, while the 15-inch laptops will be released last, within the third quarter of the year.
