Mavericks OS X download now: FREE pricing offered by Apple, download via App store

Mavericks OS 10 will be available for FREE to all Mac users. It will be available to download via Apple's App store today. The time has not been announced, but it is expected to be launched shortly.

Apple has 'revolutionalized' the pricing for its new OS, by allowing users to upgrade for free via the app store. It is available for download today.

Mavericks was introduced at the Apple event held Oct. 22 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California.

During the event, a quick demo of Mavericks was given to the media. By installing Mavericks, you will get up to an hour longer web-browsing on a single charge and half hour watching iTunes video.

Mavericks has a feature called compress memory, which can compress inactive parts of the contents of memory, making space for new allocations. "We can run more applications and never slow down."

It is also optimized for integrated graphics with OpenCL and there are big improvements for multiple displays.

New features for the latest OS X include a new Maps app, a tabbed finder, iBooks, new look to the calendar, improved Safari, iCloud Keychain, multiple displays and more. See Apple's preview of the new features here.

Mountain Lion OS X released on July 25, 2012 for $19.99 last year. The previous year, Apple charged $29.99 to upgrade to OS X Lion. The price for OS X Mavericks for the upgrade is FREE for all this year!
