The new 0.16 update for "Minecraft: Pocket Edition" has finally been released, and it unlocks several key features that have already been present on the original PC port of the game. Some of these features include mod support and in-game additions like the Wither mob boss.

As stated in a report from Android Police, "The Boss Update," update 0.16, enables full mod support. These are referred to as add-ons and are basically just JSON files and texture files. This reportedly makes developing mods for the game easier compared to making mods on other types of video games like "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim."

Because of the file types, it is also easier to share the files, allowing mobile players to easily send and download the files given that they are small in size.

The update also confirms that some features from the original Java version of "Minecraft" will be added to the mobile version. Some of these include the Wither, a powerful mob boss that PC gamers have already been facing for months. The mobile version is also getting the Guardians and the Ocean Monuments. These can be found deep in the oceans.

As with all updates, this will also come with new blocks and items added to the game.

Slash commands, which are prominent in the PC version of the game, make their debut on the mobile version with this new update. These commands will also come with the autocomplete feature. This will allow players with a Minecraft Realms server to upload and share their custom-designed worlds, change game modes, and promote other players as operators.

The report also points out that all of these updates are not just for "Minecraft: Pocket Edition," but they will also be made available for the Windows 10 Edition of "Minecraft." This update can be found on the Microsoft Store. Gamers with the original Java version can get this update for free.
