Former number one pick forward Anthony Bennett will soon be on the move again, with reports saying that he has agreed to a contract buyout with his current team, the Minnesota Timberwolves.
According to Yahoo Sports, Bennett needs to clear waivers in 48 hours to become an unrestricted free agent.
Bennett came to Minnesota as part of the trade deal that sent former All-Star forward Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers in last year's offseason.
The 22-year-old forward played in 57 games, which included three starts for the Timberwolves, and averaged 5.2 points with 3.8 rebounds per contest.
Yahoo Sports added in their report the teams that can take Bennett's $5.8 million contract, and these are the Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trail Blazers, and the Utah Jazz.
The report also stated that Bennett's representatives are hoping that he would not be claimed on waivers and will have the chance as a free agent to select the team he wants to play for.
Bennett has yet to reach his full potential in two seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) playing for the Cavs and Timberwolves.
Although he played very well for Canada during the nation's stint in the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship held in Mexico City, Mexico last Aug. 31 to Sept. 12.
Bennett, together with 2014 number one pick and teammate Andrew Wiggins, who was also part of the Love trade deal, helped Canada to a bronze medal finish in the tournament.
Since Canada's head coach Jay Triano and assistant coach David Vanterpool are both assistants with the Portland Trail Blazers, there is a huge possibility that Bennett may join the team.
A source by Yahoo Sports said the Blazers are one of two teams looking at the possibility of acquiring Bennett.
The 2013 top pick would be a good fit with the Blazers if ever a deal pushes through since the team lost one of its most important big man in All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who signed with the San Antonio Spurs in free agency.
