Moto 360 vs LG G Watch R specs comparison: Which should you wear on your wrist?

2014 may actually be the year of smartwatches. It seems like every tech company is manufacturing their own version of the smartwatch and the competition is stiff.

Not many people have jumped to the smartwatch fashion, but they soon will. The latest watches from Motorola and LG prove to be both stylish and highly functional. Here's a close look at what each watch offers:

In terms of design, both watches are not over-the-top, but the LG G Watch R may have an edge on this one. The LG G Watch R passes as the classic wristwatch in both its look and feel. The power button is simply located at the right side of the device. It's definitely beautiful.

On the other hand, the Moto 360 isn't shabby either. It has a classic look characterized by brushed stainless steel and a leather strap. It comes in different handsome colors as well.

In terms of display, there's very little difference between the two. The Moto 360 uses Corning Gorilla Glass. It has a metal housing and the LCD features a 320 x 290 resolution with 205 ppi pixel density. According to Gamer Headlines, it can be hard to make out the text in the Moto 360.

As for the LG G Watch R, it has an OLED round display which is 1.3 inches in diameter. It has a slightly higher pixel resolution at 320 x 330. It's doubtful that there will be a big difference in making out the texts between the two.

In terms of power, the Moto 360 is powered by a TI OMAP 3 processor running on 512 RAM. Its internal storage is 4 GB. The LG G Watch R is powered by a Snapdragon 400 processor clocking at 1.2 GHz. It has the same RAM and internal storage capacity.

Going to battery performance: the LG G Watch R has a 410 mAh battery, while the Moto 360 has 320 mAh battery. The latter can last up to 12 hours, while the former can last longer if the heart rate monitor is disabled.

Other features for the Moto 360 include a voice command support since it has an embedded microphone, while the LG G Watch R also has voice command with notifications that tell user if there's a missed message, call or change in weather. Both run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Both are dust and water-resistant. Both are IP67 certified.

Interestingly, while the basic features don't differ much, the difference in price is significant. The Moto 360 is priced at $260 and the LG G Watch R is priced at $328. So, is the price difference worth it?
