'Narcos' season 2 spoilers, release date: Netflix to end the series?

 Netflix

"Narcos" season 2 is rumored to be the last of the hit Netflix crime thriller. Word on the street is that the streaming giant is pulling the plug on the show, which follows the life of notorious Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.

As per reports, Escobar will meet his demise in the second season. The show's freshman run ended with his escape from prison and in real life, this particular event is dangerously close to the time Escobar's death happens.

With producer Eric Newman adamant to make the show as faithful to Escobar's life as possible, it looks like the drug lord could die in "Narcos" season 2. For the uninitiated, Escobar died just 18 months after the fleeing from incarceration.

Since this very captivity is the point where the first season left off, it looks like Escobar's days in the series are numbered. Taking into account that the first season managed to cover almost two decades of Escobar's life with just 10 episodes, the drug lord's final year and a half won't take long.

However, Netflix Life believes that Escobar's nearing demise in the series will allow it to do a slow burn in storytelling and thus, flesh out characters like Steve Murphy and Javier Pena in "Narcos" season 2. Netflix can also choose to give fans a look at what the drug world looks like after Escobar passed away.

If these rumors are to be believed, "Narcos" season 2 will depict the last days of Escobar and will ultimately wrap up the well-loved series. The new season is expected to drop in August since the first season premiered during the same month last year.

However, there are speculations that the new season will be delayed due to a shake-up behind the scenes. Whether or not "Narcos 2" will be here in August, Netflix should announce soon.
