"NBA 2K17" is getting its virtual reality (VR) treatment tomorrow, Nov. 22, developer 2K has announced in a press release. Before the announcement, the plan was leaked in the trophy list of the game.

The studio calls it the "NBA 2KVR Experience," making the game the first basketball simulation to be played in virtual reality. It should be available in the PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, and the Samsung Gear VR.

The VR version of the game will see players work with "NBA 2K17" cover star Paul George in a match set in the Indiana Pacers stadium, Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

George will be in the mini-games to give players tips in enhancing their skills to get better chances at winning in the "NBA 2KVR Experience" challenges such as the three-point shootout, a speed and accuracy skills challenge, and the buzzer beater countdown.

The rewards will come in the form of an assortment of Gatorade fuel boosts that will help players improve their shooting skills, speed, and recovery. It should also allow them to be part of the leaderboards.

The studio promises "a new, entertaining" National Basketball Association (NBA) environment in the "NBA 2KVR Experience" packed with "the sights and sounds of fun mini-games and challenges."

"Our team consistently looks for new ways to deliver unique, fun experiences for the gamer," Visual Concepts president Greg Thomas said in the press release of "NBA 2KVR Experience."

"NBA 2KVR will give fans even more access to our franchise and test new skills across entertaining VR challenges," he went on to say.

George also expressed his excitement to be part of the project. "As a lifelong fan of NBA 2K, it's exciting to see them take the leap into VR, and even more exciting that it'll be on my home court," the All-Star player said, adding "I can't wait for fans to dominate on the virtual court with virtual help from Gatorade."
