The defending Super Bowl champions New England Patriots will be tested at home and will be putting their unbeaten record on the line when they host the improving Miami Dolphins today, Thursday, as the NFL opens Week 8.
At this point in the regular season, the Pats are looking unstoppable under the leadership of franchise quarterback Tom Brady.
In six games this season, Brady has 173 completions for 2,054 yards and 16 touchdowns, only throwing one interception.
But it is not just the 38-year-old veteran's passing game that is on point, but also his rushing which he showed in last Sunday's 30–23 victory over the New York Jets.
Brady was the leading rusher against the Jets, having four carries for 15 yards and one touchdown.
The four-time Super Bowl winner and the Pats are on the right track in their title defense this season and are looking to continue their success facing Miami.
They will, however, have to do that without starting right tackle Marcus Cannon and defensive end Jabaal Sheard who were ruled out for today's game due to injuries, ESPN reported.
Sheard is facing an ankle woe, while Cannon's right toe injury suffered in Week 6 during their victory over the Indianapolis Colts will continue to make him miss games, including their matchup with the Dolphins.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins may have struggled early this season which led to the firing of Joe Philbin as head coach, but they are currently on a two-game winning streak, showing big improvement under interim head coach Dan Campbell.
Following a loss to the Jets at the Wembley Stadium in London, Campbell took over and led the team to back-to-back dominant wins over the Tennessee Titans (38–10) in Week 6 and the Houston Texans (44–26) in Week 7.
Everything improved for the Dolphins since Campbell became in charge of head coaching duties. From being a team struggling, the Dolphins are now trying to score an upset against New England.
"We really need this win. We're capable of beating this team. They're not going to be easy. They never are. You've got Tom Brady, you've got the great (coach) Bill Belichick," Campbell said, according to the Associated Press.
