"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain", which is a third person open world action adventure video game, is being rumored to be the last gaming titled spearheaded by Kojima Productions and its director, Hideo Kojima. According to a press release present on Konami's website, the video game developing and publishing company Konami, has announced that the popular Metal Gear series will be continuing, even after Kojima departs after officially releasing "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain."

With Kojima's alleged departure, Konami will be looking at a whole new team of developers to start releasing future titles. While there has been no official statement given by either parties, March 19, 2015 saw Konami remove the logos of Kojima Productions from the artwork of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain". If Kojima does end up leaving Konami, it would mean the end of three decades of service that the individual has given towards the long running gaming series.

The press release states:

"After we finish MGSV, Mr. Kojima and upper management will leave Konami. They said their contract ends in December. At a team meeting, Mr Kojima explained that team have to be one and make a good game for fans. Konami Digital Entertainment, including Mr. Kojima, will continue to develop and support Metal Gear products. Please look forward to future announcements."

"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" will serve as the direct sequel to "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes," continuing the storyline that was established till the end of the first part. The title will be available to play on all platforms, including Microsoft Windows, but it will be released for consoles on Sep. 1, 2015 while PC gamers will be able to commence their sessions on Sep. 15, 2015.
