All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony will be coming back and said he is ready to go after missing the second half of last season when the New York Knicks finished with a franchise-worst 17–65 record.
Anthony played only 40 games last season due to a knee injury and last February went through surgery.
But seven months after the medical procedure, the eight-time National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star is good to go with the Knicks starting training camp yesterday.
In Anthony's basketball camp which was held last Sunday, he said he feels like himself again and is ready both mentally and physically.
"Physically I feel great, mentally I feel great. I'm just ready to get out there and get this thing going. I've been waiting for this since February," Anthony said, according to ESPN.
The 31-year-old forward also discussed the roster moves the Knicks had in the offseason.
"I liked the moves that we made. Was it the stars that we wanted to go after and go get? No. But the pieces that we got, I'm really intrigued at what we did and where we can go with this team," Anthony stated.
Notable additions to the Knicks so far are Kristaps Porzingis (rookie), Robin Lopez, Derrick Williams, Arron Afflalo, Jerian Grant (rookie) and Kyle O'Quinn.
Like other teams, New York aimed to acquire big names in the free agency earlier in the offseason but failed.
Despite last season's struggles, the Knicks have a better squad heading to the 2015–16 season and chemistry will not be a major issue since Anthony has been working out with his teammates since August.
He said they have been having minicamps and playing at his gym, making it feel like they have been together for a long time despite working with each other for just a month.
Anthony, who will be the leader of the Knicks, averaged 24.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.0 steal per contest last season before getting injured.
