New York Knicks trade rumors 2015: Carmelo Anthony to be traded as part of rebuilding?

The New York Knicks are certainly doing better this 2015–16 National Basketball Association (NBA) regular season than they did in the previous season, but can their rebuilding process include the trading of franchise star forward Carmelo Anthony?

Chad Ford of ESPN discussed how it can happen despite Anthony having a no-trade clause in his existing contract with the Knicks, which means his permission is needed for a deal to push through.

Ford stated that Anthony loves playing for the Knicks, but he and rookie sensation Kristaps Porzingis are on two different career timetables.

Giving the Knicks the decision of either making Anthony a young player again or getting draft picks when they trade him which can help them fully rebuild.

This season, Anthony has so far played and started in 25 games, averaging 21.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and one steal in 34.2 minutes of action per contest.

The 31-year-old's numbers are very decent and even on an All-Star level, but if New York decides to go on full rebuild mode and trade Anthony, Ford believes the Miami Heat will be a great destination.

It would be nice to see Anthony playing alongside fellow 2003 draft picks guard Dwyane Wade and forward Chris Bosh.

Miami is even performing better than the Knicks; the Heat are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference standings with a 15–9 record, while Anthony's Knicks are on the 11th spot with a 12–14 record.

The Heat will instantly be title contenders and favorites if Anthony goes to South Beach and build another big three.

During the LeBron James era in Miami, the team made it to the NBA Finals for four consecutive seasons (2011–2014).

But last season, the Heat did not have James as he returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers and they did not even reach the playoffs.

However, the Heat improved their roster in the offseason and this year are competing well, even being on top of the Eastern Conference earlier this month.
