Nexus 4, 5, 7, and 10 will reportedly receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update, which will roll out in the next few weeks. Google announced the new Android operating system after three months of being in developer version.

While the new Nexus 6 smartphone and Nexus 9 tablet will be the first devices to have the sweet taste of the Android Lollipop OS, the previous generations of Nexus devices will receive the new mobile software update as well.

The tech giant confirmed that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and other supported devices will be released to the public "in the coming weeks." The exact release date is still unknown, but Nexus users can expect it anytime soon.

After the Nexus line, Google Play Edition devices will receive the update. Motorola handsets will be up next since few customizations are needed to roll it out to the gadgets.

Android 5.0 Lollipop features the new Material Design, which is the new user interface that gives devices vivid colors, responsiveness, and natural shadows. According to Google, the new design will bring "intuitive experiences across all your devices." It has new navigation buttons: a triangle, a circle and a square.

The new OS update will also arrive with better features such as improved notifications, lockscreen, multi-tasking, notification bar, and better battery. The new OS will also greatly improve the security of the new devices as it will enable users to unlock their smartphone when they're physically near enough to a device like an Android Wear smartwatch. Thus, users will be able to open their devices without the need to enter a password.

Another feature packed in Android 5.0 Lollipop is the battery saver feature and battery settings screen. When a user plugs in the device, it will show the estimated time left until the battery is fully-charged.
