Nick Jonas responds to Selena Gomez dating rumors: 'We ran into each other'

Are Nick Jonas and Selena Gomez dating again?

Long before Gomez's much publicized on-and-off relationship with Justin Bieber, she and Jonas dated during their Disney years, and she even appeared in the Jonas Brothers' music video for the song "Burnin' Up."

Recently, rumors sparked that the two are seeing each other again after they were spotted together at a restaurant, but the "Jealous" singer has cleared up the rumors, saying that their reunion wasn't anything romantic at all. In an interview with Capital FM's Max Akhtar, he explained their chance meetup.

"We kind of ran into each other a couple of weeks ago, like walking in Venice. We were both with separate groups of friends and we ran into each other," Jonas said.

He added that he put a dinner together with some other people, including the Haim girls.

When he was asked by Akhtar whether or not he would like to date the "Spring Breakers" actress again, Jonas coyly avoided the question and said, "It was nice to connect and just catch up. I'll leave it to there!"

Eyewitnesses told Hollywood Life that on July 2, the day that the two met up for dinner with their group of friends, their initial meeting at Osteria Mamma was a bit awkward. Sources told the website that the two gave each other a hug before heading into the restaurant.

"It was a little awkward in the beginning," a restaurant attendee reportedly told the website, "and then their friends arrived."

Both Jonas and Gomez are single at the moment. The former just ended a two-year relationship with Olivia Culpo last month, while the latter has reportedly broken up with DJ Zedd back in April. It was rumored that Gomez has gotten back together with Bieber as they were spotted earlier this month at the pool of the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, but an E! News source said that the two have not reunited at the moment, but are amicable exes.
