Nvidia Shield Tablet 2 release date, specs: What to expect from gaming tablet

Nvidia's line of Shield Tablets is arguably most notable for the fact that they have been specially designed for the purposes of gaming, and now, gamers are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next device.

As of now, not much is officially known about the Nvidia Shield Tablet 2, but the good news for people patiently waiting for its arrival is that there are more than enough tidbits online to provide a general idea of what they can reasonably expect from the gaming device.

One of the features of the new tablet that people should take notice of is the fact that it will be utilizing Nvidia's Tegra X1 processor upon its release, at least according to Tweak Town.

The Tegra X1 processor itself packs two more quad-core units of its own that allows it to display a lot of power and run at 2.2 GHz. It's worth noting that this very processor was the one also used for the original Shield Tablet. That first tablet notably struggled from overheating issues.

The Nvidia Shield Tablet 2 will also reportedly feature an eight-inch display, which would be fairly suitable for gaming purposes. It is also expected to provide 4K display output to give gamers a better look at what they're dealing with onscreen.

As for its other features, Nvidia's Shield Tablet 2 will also, apparently, have a pair of five-megapixel cameras situated at the back and also two speakers available up front.

It is also expected to feature the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system when it is released.

Speaking of its release, despite the Nvidia Shield Tablet 2 receiving certification from South Korea's equivalent of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), as reported by WCCF Tech, there is still no release date for the device.

The news of the certification is thought to indicate that the tablet is moving closer to reality, although news about its impending release still remains unavailable.
