OK! Magazine Kate Middleton cover photo: calls for boycott over 'weight loss regime' story

OK! Magazine is on the receiving end of calls for a "boycott" over its £1 Royal Baby special featuring "Kate's post-baby weight loss regime".

The celebrity magazine has sparked a Twitter and Facebook row over the front cover, which also promises an exclusive from the Duchess of Cambridge's trainer. The quote from the trainer on the front of the magazine says "She's super-fit - her stomach will shrink straight back".

But the women's magazine seems to have hit a nerve with its core readership, especially mums.

Former Blue Peter presenter Katy Hill called for a "boycott" of the magazine and responded by posting a picture of herself highlighting her post-birth tummy.

She said alongside the image: "New Mums. If the If the @OK_Magazine #Kate cover has made you feel bad, here's me 2 months post baby. YOU MADE A HUMAN! x"

Other women also took to Twitter to vent their anger with the hashtag #dontbuyOK

Twitter user Leanne Wale tweeted: "Utterly Pathetic, Kate has JUST had her bundle of joy. I dread to the think of how they will get even lower after this #dontbuyOk"

Thea Hutchings tweeted: "Is their editor a woman? Shame on her if so!! #DontBuyOK"

There were similar messages on the magazine's Facebook page.

Cat Steele wrote: "Already speculating on Kate's post baby body 24 hours after she has had her baby? Disgusting, I will never touch one of your magazines. Leave Kate and William alone."

Debra Scott said the magazine had "really missed [t]he mark" with its weight loss front cover.

She wrote: "Did you forget that your major demograpgic are women who have born/are giving birth to children....we have enough pressure on us with carrying and giving birth to a child without thinking we have to start our weightloss regime 48hours afer giving birth!"

And there was even anger from the men, with FB user Michael Kiag writing: "And we wonder why society today is so conscious about self-image, especially women."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed the arrival of their first child, a baby boy, on Monday. The baby weighed a healthy 8lb 6oz.

Facebook Emma Chester it's a shame your new issue is focusing on losing weight after birth. Leave new mums be!
