OnePlus will also reportedly join other tech makers in releasing a step-up addition to flagship lineups, as speculations of a new OnePlus 3 surfaces online.

According to BGR, the tech maker will be releasing a new flagship addition, dubbed as the OnePlus 3T. The new iteration will feature the step-up Snapdragon 821 processor. Although OnePlus has yet to confirm it, a step-up flagship is highly likely. The OnePlus 3 continues to be one of the most popular flagships currently out in the market, due to its "flagship killer" specs and competitive price tag. However, the OnePlus 3 was released earlier this year, and it runs on a Snapdragon 820 chipset.

The industry follower believes that the OnePlus 3T will come out soon. Supposedly, an unnamed OnePlus device codenamed A3010 has already been passed for inspection at the China Compulsory Certification agency.

Meanwhile, speculations only place the chipset as having an improvement for the OnePlus 3T. This is expected, though, since most of the specs of the current OnePlus 3 flagship are already up-to-date. The current OnePlus flagship features an all-metal unibody design, a massive 6 GB RAM, a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display, and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

Aside from the chipset upgrade, it is fairly expected that the upcoming OnePlus 3T will come out with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box. Recent reports suggest that OnePlus is almost ready to roll out its new platform update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 2.

Meanwhile, it remains unclear if OnePlus will push through with retaining Optic AMOLED displays for its future releases, including the OnePlus 3T. Company founder Carl Pei has already said that "OnePlus will be staying with Optic AMOLED displays for the foreseeable future." However, it is said that there is a shortage in supply for AMOLED panels, so tech makers are likely to switch to OLED displays.
