Blizzard's popular first person shooter game "Overwatch" has steadily been increasing in popularity since it was launched in May last year. A year and a half after its release, the game has tallied over 35 million players.

The game's official Twitter account posted a photo announcing that the game already has "35 million players and counting." In the post, the team thanked fans of the game for their support. "What a bunch of misfits and freaks we got here—we love it!" said the team. "Thanks for teaming up with us, heroes."

Although the post did not provide any other specific details, it is likely that the 35 million figure represents the total number of registered players from all platforms.

This goes to show that the game continues to grow in its player base. During the summer of last year, the game had around 15 million players. Exactly a year after its release, the game's popularity doubled, with over 30 million registered players.

It should be noted that some of the players could be alternate accounts, and many were possibly registered during free weekends. Still, 35 million players is a huge accomplishment, and the game's player base is unlikely to stop growing anytime soon.

"Overwatch" is currently holding a Halloween event called "Halloween Terror." During this event, players have the opportunity to collect many Halloween-themed skins for the various heroes in the game. These skins can be obtained from loot boxes that are earned through gameplay. Players can also purchase loot boxes from the game's store.

Players can also play the special game mode called "Junkenstein's Revenge." This is the same mode that was made available during the 2016 Halloween event, wherein players' team up to battle wave after wave of artificial intelligent (AI) controlled enemies. "Overwatch's" Halloween event will be available until Nov. 2.
